Injured a tooth?
A blow, a fall or a sports injury can crack a tooth, move it out of position or knock it out of the socket completely. A tooth that comes out whole has the best chance of being saved if it gets back into place quickly.

What you can do now
- If the tooth came out whole, pick it up by the crown, the chewing part. Do not touch or scrub the root.
- If it is dirty, rinse it briefly in milk or saline, not tap water, and try to place it back in the socket.
- If you cannot, keep it in milk or in your own saliva, in a clean container. Do not let it dry out.
- For a cracked or loosened tooth, do not bite on it and hold a cold compress against the cheek.
- Keep any broken fragments: they can sometimes be bonded back on.
